Abstract: | One-dimensional ZnO/CdS core/shell nanocomposite was successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method utilizing ZnO nanorods,
sulfur powder and cadmium salts as precursors. The influence of experimental parameters, such as cadmium precursors, concentration,
and reaction temperature on the formation of such core/shell structures was examined. The photoluminescence characterization
data of ZnO/CdS suggested that the photogenerated electron transferred from the conduction band of CdS to the conduction band
of ZnO and leaded to the blue shift of band-to-band transition (Burstein-Moss effect).
