On the damping of nonlinear vibrations in some second-order dynamical systems

This paper continues the study of damping of nonlinear vibrations in second-order dynamical systems for the case considered in 1]. The estimates obtained for energy scattering are applied to a system of two bodies connected by a weightless elastic cable. The system rotates in a plane, and the viscous friction forces in the cable are taken into account. The external drag forces are neglected. Such a problem arises, for example, if the motion of a system of elastically connected spacecraft far from attracting centers is considered 2, 3].
