Abstract:
Amphimetry with electrochemical indicationPart 1. Direct titration of anions
Summary The authors propose the possibility of an electrochemical indication (amperometry and potentiometry) of amphimetric titrations (distribution titrations in emulsions) of several complex anions with a cationic surfactant. They can be accomplished faster than precipitation titrations and discontinuous distribution titrations. In contrast to photometric indication, titrations of colourless ions are possible.Tungsten 4-nitrocatecholate and copper thiocyanate are titrated amperometrically by use of propylene carbonate as extractant. The titration of cyanoargentate is indicated potentiometrically; organic solvent is ethyl acetate. The calibration curves show linearity from 5 mol to 400 mol/ 40 ml emulsion; the relative standard deviation is about 1% at 5 mol.
