| Abstract: | A concise enantiospecific synthesis of the pine beetle pheromone (+)-hydroxy-exo-brevicomin was achieved from l-(+)-tartaric acid in high yield. The key step involves the reduction of a keto-Weinreb amide derived from tartaric acid. |
