| Abstract: | 2-Bromo-3-(5-imidazolyl)propanol (3) and its Nπ-Me derivative 8 were synthesized starting from histidine. The introduction of the Br atom in L-histidine, via diazotization, causes racemization. The correct position of the Me group on the imidazole nucleus in methyl 2-bromo-3-(l-methyl-5-imidazolyl)propionate 7 was proved in two ways. |
