Abstract: | Null Einstein-Maxwell charge-free fields such that the propagation vector is a scalar multiple of a gradient are not determined uniquely by the geometry of the space-time. The metric for space-times admitting such exceptional fields can always be transformed to the Wyman-Trollope form. This same result follows if there is a non-vanishing null current density associated with the field. |
