Flame-photometric determination of sodium in uranium ores

A flame-photometric method of determining sodium in uranium, phosphate, carbonate, and silicate rocks has been developed. The mutual enhancement of the alkali metals is overcome by the addition of a radiation buffer added to both the sample and to the standards. The method is rapid and suitable for routine analysis. Results obtained are within ± 2% of the sodium content.
