Abstract: | A rapid and precise method has been developed for the determination of uranium in uranium hexafluoride material that contains essentially no non-volatile impurities. Approximately 7 g of uranium hexafluoride is transferred into a tared fluorothene tube, weighed, frozen, and hydrolyzed in 150 ml of ice-cold water in a platinum dish. The solution is evaporated to dryness, and the residue is ignited to urano-uranic oxide and weighed. The precision of a single analysis at the 95% confidence interval is ± 0.06% of the value, with no significant bias |
