On the intensity of magnetisation of lodestones

Measurements have been made of the magnetic moment of a number of lodestones; these included ships' lodestones. The results are converted to the intensity of magnetisation and are discussed in terms of the possible origin of lodestones, based on work on rock magnetism carried out mainly in the last century.
