| Abstract: | The temperature dependence of the trigonal lattice distortion in TbS, TbSe, TbTe and TbBi is reported. Below the Néel point the rocksalt cell is rhombohedrally elongated in agreement with the moment orientation in these type II antiferromagnets. In the Tb chalcogenides as well as in TbBi the phase transition appears to be of second order. |
