The stress on an elastic half-space due to sectionally smooth-ended punch

The axisymmetric contact problem for an elastic half-space and a rigid punch is considered using integral transform methods. The end of the punch is sectionally smooth and there is incomplete penetration. The normal stress under the punch is calculated and found to have an elliptic integral type of singularity.
