Abstract:Treatment of CpZrCl3 with 3-methylbutenyl-Grignard reagent yields thermally labile tris(1,1-dimethylallyl) ZrCp (6), which is slowly decomposed (5d) at −15°C to give (η-cyclopentadienyl)(η3-1,1-dimethylallyl)(η4-isoprene)zirconium (7), which is thermally unstable; with a half-live of 43 h at 20°C it rearranges to the η3-1,2-dimethylallyl isomer and an (isoprene) zirconium hydride is proposed as the intermediate for this hydrogen-migration reaction.
