Abstract: | Fourier transform infrared spectra of freeze-dried samples of isotactic polystyrene (i-PS) from dilute solutions were analyzed. The 698, 1452, 1493 and 1601 cm−1 bands increased in sharpness and intensity as the solution concentration decreased, indicating that the freeze-dried sample is in a more dilated state. When the freeze-dried i-PS was annealed at 100°C, all aforementioned bands broadened and their heights depressed, accompanied with a significant change of the bands at 981 and 906 cm−1. |
