Abstract: | Summary This paper discusses the philosophical aspects of the three main chemometrical strategies in analytical chemistry: statistical data treatment, optimization and modelling, pattern recognition. It is possible by a more general consideration of these approaches to find a proper place of different philosophical categories such as form and content , induction and deduction , concrete and general in analytical chemistry. The philosophical aspect of the considerations allows a deeper penetration into the theoretical basis of chemical analysis.
