六朝诗歌在我国诗歌史上占据着极其重要位置，且形成了独具特色的时代特征，纵观六朝诗歌，我们很明显地觉察到其浓郁的政治色彩和极鲜明的玄佛色彩。群雄割据，相互征伐，朝代更迭频繁，政治和疆域都极不统一。由于常年的战乱和党锢，导致此时的诗歌创作与政治联系紧密，文人或施展抱负为所依附的政权效力，或畏惧权势逃避灾祸而满口玄远之辞，或遵循佛理寻求现世的享乐，又因此时思想的自由使得六朝诗歌形成了众多的流派，显示出别具一格时代风貌，为我国诗歌史上展现了浓墨重彩的一笔。
