On stability of -semigroups

Abstract:	We prove that if is a -semigroup on a Hilbert space , then (a) if and only if $sup{Vertint^t_0exp{(2pi ik)/omega}T(s)x,dsVertcolon tgeq 0, kinmathbf{Z}}<infty$ , for all , and (b) is exponentially stable if and only if $sup{Vertint^t_0exp{ilambda t}T(s)x,dsVertcolon tgeq 0, lambdainmathbf{R}}<infty$ , for all . Analogous, but weaker, statements also hold for semigroups on Banach spaces.
