Abstract: | The fast bimolecular reaction HgBr + Br2 → HgBr2 + Br is shown to be responsible for the observed rapid and efficient regeneration of HgBr2 in cyclic operation of the repetitively pulsed HgBr photodissociation laser. The rate constant for this reaction has been measured to be (7.7 ± 0.6) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 at 415 K. |
