| Abstract: | The Δg(σuδu) ← Σg(σu)2 transition of the uranyl ion which corresponds to an electron transfer for a weakly bonding oxygen orbital to a non-bonding uranium 5f±2 orbital has characteristics similar to so-called hypersensitive 4f-4f transitions of the lanthanide ions. |
