Abstract:Experimental and theoretical studies of the role of angular momentum in the decay behavior of 1B3u pyrazine show that the strong rotational state dependence has its origin in the breakdown of the ΔP = 0 (ΔK = ±1) selection rule for intersystem crossing. Some possible reasons for this are discussed.
