Surface modification of superfine tourmaline powder with titanate coupling agent

Abstract:The effects of surface modification of the superfine tourmaline powder with a titanate coupling agent were discussed by investigating its hydrophobicity and distribution in poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The modified tourmaline powder became hydrophobic, which resulted in better distribution in the PET matrix. The mechanism of the surface modification was analyzed.
