Abstract: | The technique of photoelastic visualization of ultrasound has been applied to study the waves generated by variable-angle transducers. Two particular transducer designs have been investigated. In the first, a compressional wave is launched through a liquid, whereas in the second a compressional wave propagates through perspex before striking the boundary of the testpiece. A comparison has been made between the waves generated, which have been visualized in glass testpieces, and those predicted by calculation. |
