| Abstract: | The mechanism of initiation in the polymerization of N-vinyl carbazole by trityl salts in methylene dichloride has been investigated by spectroscopic studies of final reaction mixtures and molecular weight analysis. The proposed reaction mechanism involves regeneration of the Ph3C+ cation and propagation through a dication as active species. |
