A direct synthesis of neocryptolepine and isocryptolepine |

| Abstract: | A formal synthesis of indolequinoline alkaloid neocryptolepine and isocryptolepine is described which employed a common intermediate and used an intramolecular Wittig reaction followed by regioselective methylation in excellent yield. |
