Abstract: | Abstract The separation of aflatoxin B1, B2, G1 and G2 was compared on six commercial silica gel plates in twelve solvent systems. Two of the solvent systems, chloroform: acetone: ammonium hydroxide (90: 10: 0.25) and chloroform: acetone: hexane (85: 15: 20) resolved the four aflatoxins on all the tested plates. The solvent modifier played an important role in the resolution of these compounds. The effect of the hardness of the plate is also discussed. |
