Molecular reorientation of liquid benzene. Anisotropic Raman scattering of the CH and CD stretching modes in the deuterated molecules

Abstract:	The anisotropic Raman spectra of the CH and CD stretching modes in seven deuterated benzenes of D_6h, D_3h, D_2h and C_2h symmetry are reported. The reorientational linewidths are interpreted within the model of anisotropic rotational diffusion. The data are consistent with NMR relaxation studies. The study covers the temperature range between T/T_c = 0.49 and T/T_c = 0.97.
