Abstract:Bis(2-hydroxy-3,5-di-t-butylphenyl)methanone (1) was found to give spirodienone derivative (3) under oxidative condition. UV irradiation of 3 afforded dibenzofuran derivative (5) through an α-fission of cyclohexa-2,4-dienone, accompanied by a loss of CO2.
