The absence of ethylenedione in photochemical biscarbonylation reactions

Abstract:Photolyses of a number of bridged cyclohexenediones and vinylcyclobutanediones in argon or xenon matrices at 10 K at a variety of wavelengths produced carbon monoxide with no evidence for formation of ethylenedione, the elusive dimer of CO.
