Abstract:Phosphate ester modified acrylate(PAMA) emulsion was synthesized by using glycol methacrylate phosphate(HEMAP) as functional monomer, N-acrylamide as crosslinking monomer, methyl methacrylate(MMA), acrylic acid(AA) as main polymerization monomers under the action of polymerizable surfactant by using the emulsion polymerization method. Effect of the different content of HEMAP on the particle size, thermal resistance, and corrosion resistance of the PAMA emulsions and coatings were demonstrated by the particle size analyzer, thermogravimetric analyzer, electrochemical tests and salt spray tests. The results showed that, with the content of HEMAP increased from 0.5% to 2%, the particle size decreased from 883.7 nm to 427.9 nm, and the weight loss rate decreased. Tafel polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that with the addition of HEMAP, the corrosion potential increased, the corrosion current decreased, and the impedance value increased, which illustrated that the corrosion resistance of metal substrate improved by coating the PAMA emulsions.
