Predicting the viscosity of halogenated alkane mixtures at the boiling line

Abstract:A new correlation for predicting the viscosity of liquid halogenated alkanes at the boiling line within a wide temperature interval was suggested. The modified orthochor concept, for which new values of the contributions of functional groups contained in alkanes and their halogenated derivatives were calculated, was used in our proposed structural-additive method for predicting viscosity. It was shown that application of this method allowed us to calculate the viscosities of halogenated alkane solutions without using experimental information and with an error of up to 4% within the reduced temperature interval of 0.1 ≤ 1 − T/T c ≤ 0.35.
