Abstract:Flash vacuum pyrolysis has been used to prepare a variety of differently substituted derivatives of the benzocyclobutene ring system starting with simple precursors. An analytical gas flow reactor is described which simulates reaction conditions of flash vacuum pyrolysis experiments. This reactor allows to optimise reaction conditions and to obtain structure reactivity correlations for thermolytic gas phase reactions.
