Effects of solvent and temperature on the reaction of 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoroanthraquinone with 4-tert-butylbenzenethiol

Abstract:The reaction of 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoroanthraquinone with 4-tert-butylbenzenethiol in the presence of triethylamine on heating in nonpolar solvents resulted mainly in replacement of the α-fluorine atom, whereas in polar solvents the β-fluorine atom was replaced preferentially or exclusively.
