Two Kinds of Calix [4] Arene Derivatives as Capillary Gas Chromatography Stationary Phases

Two kinds of new calix 4] arene derivatives: 5-l', l'-dimethylundecenyeoxyphenylmethyl 11, 17,23-tris-l', l'-dimethylethyl-25, 26,27,28-tetrabenzyloxy calix4] arene (C4) TB) and 5-1', l'- dimethylunde cenyloxyphenylmethyl-11, 17, 23 - tris- 1', 1' - dimethylethy 1 -25, 26, 27, 28- tetroethoxycarbonylmethyloxy calix 4] arene (C 4] TECM ) were synthesized and the structures were confirmed by elemental analysis, infrared spectrometry, H' nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. The derivatives were coated and immobilized on fused silica capillary column with OV- 1701 in 1: 1 proportion and their chromatographic characteristics, including column efficiency, polarity, selectivity, phase transition temperature, thermal stability and immobilization efficieney were studied. The calix(4) arene derivatives stationary phases were found to have unique selectivity for alcohol isomers, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and positional isomers of aromatic compounds.
