| Abstract: | Dielectric, optical and electro-optical properties of four chlorinated nematic liquid crystal compounds and a eutectic mixture were characterized. Some chlorinated liquid crystals are found to exhibit a wide nematic range, modest dielectric and optical anisotropies, low viscosity and small UV absorption. Potential application of mixtures containing chlorinated liquid crystals for information displays in the visible spectral region is foreseeable. |
