Abstract:The relation between exogenous CAMP and catabloits repression in the uitilization of lactose and galactose was studied with Bacillus megaterirm AS 1. 217, E. coli AS1. 797 and E. coli K12. The results show that when B. megaterium AS 1. 217 without CAMPin cells was cultured in thd mixed carbon source of glucose and lactose, the repression of glucose is independant on CAMP; When E. coli AS 1. 797 was cultured in the same mixed carbon sourcem, the repression of glucose can be eliminated by exogenous CAMP. This fact shows that the systhesis of the systhesis of the enzyme system utilized lactose is dependant on CAMP in this bacterium. The relation between CAMP and the repression of glucose on the utilization of galactose is distimct in different strains:In E. xoli K12,the repression of glucose can be eliminated by exogenous CAMP; In E. coli AS1. 797,the repression of gluose can not be eliminated by the same concentration of exogenous CAMP,but it ean be alleriated. It seems to show that CAMP concentration required for the syntheses of enzyme system utilized galactose in E. coli AS 1. 797may be different to that in E. coli K12.
