前言

The 17th International Workshop on ECR Ion Sources and Their Applications was held in Lanzhou,China on September 17—21,2006 at the conference hall of Institute of Modern Physics (IMP).IMP was honored to host the workshop. We had a total of 70 attendees from 16 countries.There were 32 oral presentations and 26 posters during the workshop. The scientific program focused on 8 oral sessions and 2 poster sessions which cover the following topics:Superconducting ECRIS;New developments and status report;New sources,new concepts and ideas;ECR plasma physics and modeling; Ion beam extraction,transport and diagnostics;Radioactive ion beam production and ECRIS applications.The workshop
