Abstract: | The presence ofCe3+(4f1) in SrTiO3 results in a broad optical absorption in the visible region. This is ascribed to a charge-transfer transition from Ce3+ to Ti4+. This material is not successful as an anode in photoelectrochemical cells. The reasons for this are discussed. |
