Abstract: | Periodic synchronous patterns induced by the traveling waves in coupled discontinuous map lattices are investigated by numerical simulation. The formation mechanism of this behavior is analyzed in detail. The results show that the periodic synchronous patterns arise from the competition between different homogeneous states and are a function of their relative sizes. Periodic synchronous patterns can be controlled by varying the system parameters, and changing even a single node may influence the system. As an potential application of periodic synchronous patterns in secure communications, a preliminary scheme is proposed and verified by example. |
