This note corrects the calculation of the utilization rate in the article “Solving real car sequencing problems with ant colony optimization” by Gagné et al. Gagné, C., Gravel, M., Price, W.L., 2006. Solving real car sequencing problems with ant colony optimization. European Journal of Operational Research 174, 1427–1448] and provides hints on deriving a fast lower bound for the car sequencing problem. It further adjusts a proposed objective function, so that it becomes a viable alternative to the “sliding window” approach.
