Abstract:ased on the diameter and the diameter distribution of fibers,spun in their optimized spinning temperature ranges,six TLCPs were classified into two groups with good and poor spinnability,respectively.Under the same conditions TLCPs with good spinnability generate fibrils of smaller diameters,narrower diameter distributions and larger intrinsic aspect ratios in blend extrudates.This correlation between the TLCP spinnability in air medium and TLCP fibrillation in resin melt could be taken as a prerequisite condition for the achievement of sub-micron reinforcing with TLCP fibrils.
