Abstract: | Summary Trace amounts of iron(III) and molybdenum can be determined by their catalytic effect on the perborate-iodide reaction transformed to a Landolt process. Calibration graphs for the 1–10 g/ml concentration range for each are presented and the reproducibility of the methods is given on a statistical basis. The effects of about thirty ions and complexing agents are reported and suggestions are made regarding the possibility of using EDTA and tartrate to enable iron and molybdenum to be determined separately in a mixture. Anomalous behaviour of osmium(VIII) is reported.
