| Abstract: | The dialkylthioacetals, cyclic ethanediylthioacetals and 1,3-dithianes are shown to undergo facile dethioacetalization on heating in dimethylsulphoxide under neutral conditions to afford the corresponding carbonyl compounds in good yields. |
