| Abstract: | Slow evaporation of a solution made from rigorously dried toluene and cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) has led to crystals of the guest-free CTV. These belong to the monoclinic space groupP21/n witha=12.582(3),b=9.575(5),c=19.738(5) Å, =95.15(2)°;D
c
=1.26 g cm–3 forZ=4. Refinement based on 1708 observed reflections led toR=0.045. The nine-membered ring of the CTV has the expected crown conformation. |
