Abstract: | Accurate expressions for the computation of absorption lines, both in solar and stellar spectra, can only be obtained with the help of differential weighting functions. For arbitrary absorption in the stellar flux, the integrated weighting function is only approximately applicable. Approximate formulae for the weighting functions are not required. |
