Analytical and experimental determination of natural frequencies of double-span beams of non-uniform cross-section and with elastic end constraints

Abstract:This study deals with the analytical determinations of the fundamental natural frequency of transverse vibrations of a double-span beam with a discontinuous moment of inertia and both ends elastically restrained against rotation. The presence of masses and axial forces is also considered. Comparison of analytical and experimental results is presented as a function of the governing geometric and mechanical parameters. Good agreement is found in all cases from an engineering point of view.
