Abstract: | The lyotropic effect in the flocculation of a negatively charged AgI sol is explained on the basis of a double layer model without specific adsorption of cations. The constant potential model for the double layer interaction gives better results than the constant charge model. The theoretical results indicate furthermore that repeptization of the flocculated sol is possible. |
