Abstract: | Abstract Three methods that have been developed in our laboratory for the preparation of sulfoximines are described. Two of these involve the efficient, high yield oxidation of certain sulfilimines (iminosulfuranes) with ruthenium tetroxide (catalytic Ru02 + sodium periodate or hypochlorite cooxidant) and m-chloroperoxybenzoic acids, respectively, in biphasic systems. The third method is the direct preparation of sulfoximines from DMSO-t-butyl hypochlorite-aromatic amines. The scope and limitations of the procedures will be described. |
