Abstract: | X-Ray and DTA techniques were employed to study the thermal and structural characteristics of thallium(I) sulfate. By means of heat treatment, it has been found to evolve successively from a γ-monoclinic phase, through four (β1, β2, β3, β4) orthorhombic phases to an α-trigonal phase. According to the preparation method at room temperature, this compound can be obtained in γ or β1 or β2 form or in a mixture of these three phases. The predominance of one of these three forms and the reversibility of some modifications are strongly influenced by crystal size. |
