| Abstract: | The Near Field radiation pattern of a tapered monomode planar waveguide is investigated for the first time. A theoretical technique is developed and the results obtained are shown to agree sufficiently well with experiments performed on tapered ion-exchanged glass guides to permit using this technique to predict taper performance. |
