| Abstract: | The effect of spin-orbit interaction on the magnetic susceptibility of metals has been investigated using a pseudopotential formalism. The orbital spin and spin-orbit contributions to the magnetic susceptibility of Zn and Cd have been calculated. An important feature is that the spin-orbit contribution is diamagnetic and is of the same order of magnitude as orbital contribution in the case of Zn and Cd. |
