A regiospecific synthesis of (±)-decarbomethoxyaklavinone

Condensation of the dilithio derivative of 3-methoxybenzanilide with the bicyclic ketoaldehyde $\text{12}$ leads to a convergent and 100% regiospecific synthesis of (±)-decarbomethoxyaklavinone ($\text{19}$).
